books, Books, BOOKS

Although I read about five books since Mr. Nelson gave this assignment, I decided to do this last blog on the last book I read: Peter and the Starcatcher. It is a play/musical based off the book Peter and the Starcatchers which is the backstory of Peter Pan.

Throughout all adaptations of Peter Pan, one of the ideas that has always remained is the idea of family but more specifically a mother. Peter (even though he wants to stay young forever) and the Lost Boys yearn for a mother. But why? Mothers don't let you do this or that. They get in the way sometimes don't they?
So why are they so important?

One word comes to mind.

Love.

Love, lovey-dovey, mushy-gushy, sappy stuff that can NEVER EVER be replaced.

Mothers are one of the greatest givers of love. For starters they give birth to you. They help give you life. A chance to experience new and exciting things. Then they take care of you. They feed you, dress you, change you, and play with you non stop for 24 hours. And if they're lucky we sleep and go down for our naps so that they can do other chores that need to be done. But when we cry 20 minutes later, they are the first responders.

Then we grow. We grow and grow and grow. And they are still the first responders to our cries. We get physically injured they are there. When we have a rough day at school, they are there. When we have heart aches and heart breaks and tantrums and rebellious phases and obedient phases; they are there. For us. No matter what we do they love us. Yes they want us to succeed and be happy but they love us for who we are.

Yeah this might be a long blog, but it is a tribute to mothers that needed to be said. The bond between mother and child is one of love and that is the strongest force on earth.

“Can anything harm us, mother, after the night-lights are lit?"
Nothing, precious," she said; "they are the eyes a mother leaves behind her to guard her children.” J. M. Barrie, Peter Pan.

So to all the mothers out there. Thank you. Thank you for your love and devotion.
